Inorganic Sealing Material for Coal Mine Gas Drainage Boreholes
Improved Borehole Sealing
The hardened grout forms a dense, low-permeability barrier that helps reduce gas and air leakage.
Controlled Expansion
Selected grades compensate for settlement and improve contact with irregular borehole walls and surrounding fractures.
Adjustable Setting and Strength
Five grades are available for different water ratios, pumping conditions, setting requirements and final strengths.
Mine-Safe Inorganic Material
The grout contains no combustible PU foam and produces no harmful solvent vapour during curing.
Product Introduction
MT Expanding Borehole Sealing Grout is a cementitious and mineral-based material developed for sealing boreholes in underground coal mines.
It is used primarily around gas drainage pipes, where leakage through the borehole annulus and surrounding fractures can reduce extraction efficiency. After placement, the grout hydrates and forms a dense mineral sealing body with controlled expansion.
The product can also be used for pressure-measurement holes, outburst-prevention holes, water-exploration holes, injection holes and selected casing-sealing applications.
Five MT grades are available. They provide different combinations of water ratio, flow, early strength, final strength and expansion. This allows the sealing material to be selected according to borehole depth, fracture condition, pumping equipment and required sealing length.
Unlike polyurethane foam sealing systems, MT is an inorganic, non-combustible powder material. It is suitable for underground environments where heat resistance, long-term stability and low gas permeability are required.

Product Usage
Typical Applications
• Coal seam gas drainage boreholes
• Adjacent-seam gas drainage boreholes
• Methane extraction and pressure-measurement holes
• Outburst-prevention boreholes
• Water-exploration and drainage holes
• Injection and monitoring holes
• Sealing around underground borehole casing
• Auxiliary sealing of selected mine ventilation structures
Application Method
1. Clean the borehole and inspect the designed sealing section.
2. Install the extraction pipe, grout pipe, return pipe, packer or sealing bag.
3. Select the MT grade according to borehole depth, fracture condition and required strength.
4. Measure the specified quantity of clean water.
5. Add the powder gradually and mix until uniform.
6. Pump the grout continuously into the annular sealing section.
7. Continue until the specified pressure or return-grout condition is reached.
8. Keep the borehole undisturbed until sufficient strength has developed.
Sealing length, grout volume and injection pressure must be determined by the mine gas-drainage design.
