Hepu Baisha 150MW Wind Farm – Hybrid Tower Segment Jointing
Project snapshot
Location: Hepu County, Guangxi, China
Installed capacity: 153.45 MW total (project plan)
Turbines / towers: 29 hybrid towers (160 m) + 4 steel towers (135 m), 33 units total
Hybrid tower configuration: Concrete section 129.40 m + Steel section 27.90 m (160 m tower height)
Background
The Hepu Baisha project required efficient erection of large precast concrete tower segments while maintaining consistent joint fit-up and long-term joint durability. Segment joints in hybrid towers must seal against moisture and transfer shear loads between segments.
Solution: structural epoxy jointing for precast segments
For this project, a two‑component structural epoxy adhesive was used between precast concrete segments for jointing and localized gap filling. The thixotropic, non‑sag behavior helps the adhesive stay where applied on vertical joint faces during assembly and alignment.
On-site application notes (high level)
Segments are dry‑fitted, joint faces cleaned, and alignment verified
Components A and B are mixed until uniform
Adhesive is applied continuously to the mating surfaces / shear key zones
Segments are assembled within working time, then post‑tensioning proceeds per the tower design
Where this case is useful
If your hybrid tower project involves large‑diameter segments and tight erection schedules, epoxy jointing is typically selected to help maintain joint integrity and load transfer during both construction and service life.
